The snow leopard is listed as “Vulnerable” on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. The main reasons this big cat is under threat are hunting, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflicts. There are an estimated 4,080-6,590 snow leopards in the wild, but it is difficult for scientists to know for sure.
