Furthermore, Muir Woods National Monument is a United States National Monument managed by the National Park Service. This national monument is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast, in southwestern Marin County, California. This place is a perfect spot for hiking and biking. Reservations are required for all vehicles and shuttle riders since 2018. The county and the National Park Service introduced a reservation system in early 2018 which restricts the number of vehicles allowed to enter and park in Muir Woods every day. The paved/boardwalk main trail begins at the entrance plaza and travels into the old-growth redwood forest alongside Redwood Creek.
