By the way, The Australian dollar was introduced on 14 February 1966 to replace the pre-decimal Australian pound. The Australian dollar is backed by the Australian government and is the legal tender in Australia and its territories. The first paper banknotes in Australian dollars were printed in 1966. The one, two, ten and 20-dollars notes matched the old pound banknotes.
The five-dollar note was printed in 1967 after the public was used to decimal currency. In 1988, the Reserve Bank of Australia gave out plastic, (polypropylene) polymer banknotes. Currently, regarding coins, there are 1 and 2 dollars and 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents in circulation. There are also several banknotes, including 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Australian dollars.
